changing lives, changing eternities

Hutto Community Church exists to create eternal change in people’s lives by introducing them to Jesus.

  • The Bible is God’s Word and thereby the foundation of all that we do at HCC. It guides our beliefs about God, salvation, church governance, discipleship and even our behavior. Without the Word of God we are left to our own whims and feelings.

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. –Hebrews 4:12

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. –2 Timothy 3:16-17

  • We believe that the Christian life is meant to be lived in relationship with others. At HCC, God has blessed us with a rich community. We accept everyone as they are: rich or poor, black, brown, or white, sinner or saint, believer or non-believer, confident or awkward.

We believe that to truly love others means we are authentic. As we get to know one another better, we share our hurts and burdens and allow others to help us in this journey. We all need to lean on someone to weather the storms of life.

This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. – John 15:12-13

Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ – Galatians 6:1-2

  • To rightly follow Jesus, we believe we must constantly and consistently be growing in our faith. That means we are always asking questions like, “What is my next step? What is Jesus asking of me right now?”

At HCC we want everyone to be a disciple of Jesus. We define a disciple as a person who has been changed by Jesus, actively following Him, AND teaching others to do the same.

Many believers know Jesus and have had their lives changed by him and follow him daily in Bible study and prayer, however the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) is very clear that we are to teach others about Jesus and bring them on the faith journey with us. If we miss this critical step, we have missed what it really means to follow Jesus.

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:18-20

What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also. – 2 Timothy 2:2

  • As Jesus came to serve others and give up his life for us, so we believe we are to give up our lives and serve others as we have opportunity. This means we serve other local non-profits, those who are in need, and budget a portion of tithes and offerings given to the church to be given to those in need and local like-minded organizations.

For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. – Mark 10:45
